The Pwllheli Town Council Grants Scheme supports projects that benefit the local community. It funds initiatives that bring people together, encourage participation, develop skills, improve wellbeing and local facilities, support disadvantaged groups, and promote the town, including biodiversity. Applicants must show how their project meets at least one of these aims.
Priority is given to projects that deliver new benefits, expand opportunities for residents, improve facilities or events, and are run by organisations with an annual income below £25,000. Funding available includes up to £1,000 for small groups, £1,000–£5,000 for community grants, and, in rare cases, over £5,000 for exceptional projects. Successful applicants must acknowledge Council support in their publicity.
Eligible applicants include voluntary and community organisations such as constituted groups, charities, community interest companies, and co-operatives. Funding is not available to individuals, private businesses, profit-making organisations, public sector bodies, or organisations with poor governance or financial health.
Each organisation may submit only one application per financial year, using the official form, and projects must not start before funding is approved. Grants can support items such as equipment, training, events, transport, publicity, building improvements, and environmental projects. However, they do not cover ongoing running costs, salaries, professional fees, maintenance, or pre-application expenses.
Applications are assessed by the full Council based on community need, inclusivity, value for money, and overall impact, with funding decisions depending on available budgets and application quality.
